Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is famous for her performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. She won several awards including an Oscar for the film Piano. The accomplished actress started her career in acting on the stage with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Enthusiastic about acting from her elementary school days, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play when she was in fifth grade. Following a bout of mumps, she lost her hearing on one side of her ear. However, this hasn't stopped her aspirations to work as an actress. At college, she was a theatre student and later moved in New York City in pursuit of her dreams. Hunter first appeared on Broadway when she had a chance meeting in the company of Beth Henley, a playwright. The two worked together in Broadway Crimes of the Heart. In the years following her move in Los Angeles, Hunter tried for movie roles. An supporting role was secured in Swing Shift. In the three decades since then she's appeared in numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
